Discalced Carmelites. Modification of the Rules according to the law in force, by Fr. Francisco Palau y Quer.

Fr. Palau, concerned about saving what could be saved of the Order, suppressed by the Government, occupies himself directly for the good of the Nation and the Church, accommodating his incipient Work, fulfilling the provisions of the law, extending his help for the good of the neighbour: “one to the schools and another to the sick”. These Rules were written during his retreat in Vedrá in 1863, on the first days of September (Letter 96).
