Es Cubells (Ibiza), 28 July 1857
To Juana Gratias in Gramat (Francia).
He takes interest on the inner relations of his directee with God. All the rest is passing. God alone does not change and patience gains everything. He has taken to heart the phrase of his teacher, Teresa of Jesus. He advises Juana to put order in her life of prayer and seclusion and cites the gospel to support his direction: if they curse you, bless them; if they calumniate you, keep silent and pray...The tyrant will suffer more than the martyr.
