The devastating cholera epidemic also struck the village of Aytona, and the family of Palau y Quer was one among those stricken. On this date, Fr Francisco Palau received in Barcelona an urgent call from his family; his elder sister Maria Engracia has received the last sacraments and was asking for the presence of his brother Francisco (positio, 465).
