Ibiza, 24 May 1854
To D. Agustín Mañá, in Barcelona.
The letter is an xray of his human dimension, recounting the hardships of his arrest. The letter binds in communion of spirit with the spouse of the addressee, manifesting to the owner of the press his loyalty as a friend at this moment of pain. He feels sorry for not having visited more frequently. We are all close to God, in whom we exist, move, and live.
